SUMMARY:Green Initiative in a Throw Away World -- Aquaponics Garden Talk and Tour
DESCRIPTION:This event will begin with the story of the Amity Foundation: a cultural treasure dedicated to reconnecting individuals who have been “thrown away” in foster care\, juvenile and adult prisons\, and mental institutions with healthy food\, source separation\, waste reduction\, product stewardship\, and alternative gardening practices.  Creating safe and therapeutic spaces that shine a light on the parallels between the macrocosm (planet) and microcosm (individual) to inspire change through the conservation of natural resources\, that slowly shift wasteful behavior to a more sustainable one. The discussion will accompanied by a tour of Amity’s Aquaponics “gardens.” Aquaponics is the cultivation of plants and aquatic animals in a closed loop recycling system.

SUMMARY:Frances the Fish Presentation
DESCRIPTION:Frances the Fish is the fifteen minute animated short film about a brave little salmon that makes her way from her home river to the ocean in search of a bigger life. Frances and her fellow fish encounter an omniscient octopus\, a commercial fishing outfit\, climate change and hungry bears\, as some of the challenges in the face of the monumental task to spawn the next generation. While Frances the Fish depicts the cycle of life through the journey of a sockeye salmon it is at its heart an allegory for perseverance\, community interdependence\, and faith. \nAs this film is still in development we will share a few words about the project and a bit of the artwork from the film followed by a Salmon specialist who will speak briefly about the effects of climate change on salmon. We are ultimately planning to make the short in Virtual Reality Animation\, so we will also have an interactive demo that audience members can experience individually with a VR headset. This is a free event where sparkling wines and hors-d’oeuvres will be served. \nFor more information: info@francesthefish.org

SUMMARY:Mesoamérica Resiste and Pollinating Ríos Vivos
DESCRIPTION:The Bees are back on tour with their giant\, portable murals! Beehive Collective’s graphics aim to draw out the connections between colonial history and present day struggles against corporate globalization\, violence\, and racism.
