Reverend Billy & The Stop Shopping Choir is a radical performance community based in New York City, with 50 performing members and a congregation in the thousands.
Rev. Billy and The Stop Shopping Choir are wildly engaging anti-consumerist gospel shouters and Earth-loving urban activists who have worked with communities on four continents defending community, life and imagination. Their Devils over the past 15 years have remained the same: Consumerism and Militarism. In this time of the Earth’s crisis they are especially mindful of the extractive imperatives of global capital.
Their songs and sermon soothe the souls of even the staunchest secularists. They compel action in those who have never been activists, revive exhausted activists, and devise new methods for future activism. They also put on a great show.
