Murray Mednick’s The Gary Plays, Part 1

The Gary Plays by Obie Award winning, LA-based playwright Murray Mednick is an epic 8-play portrait of LA that depicts a world on the edge of environmental collapse. In December, as part of VisionLA Fest, the Open Fist Theater will present a lab production of Part 1 of the Gary Plays, directed by Guy Zimmerman. In Part 1, a man (Gary) carries his son’s ashes down the length of the LA river to the sea. The cast includes veterans of the Gary Plays such as Hugh Dane, Peggy Blow, Laura Ligouri, Chris Rivas and Carl Johnson, and also longtime Open Fist stalwarts such as Jeff LeBeau (in the lead role), Derek Manson, Amanda Weier, Barbara Schofield and Laura Richardson.
