- Date: Dec 5, 2015
This event will begin with the story of the Amity Foundation: a cultural treasure dedicated to reconnecting individuals who have been “thrown away” in foster care, juvenile and adult prisons, and mental institutions with healthy food, source separation, waste reduction, product stewardship, and alternative gardening practices. Creating safe and therapeutic spaces that shine a light on the parallels between the macrocosm (planet) and microcosm (individual) to inspire change through the conservation of natural resources, that slowly shift wasteful behavior to a more sustainable one. The discussion will accompanied by a tour of Amity’s Aquaponics “gardens.” Aquaponics is the cultivation of plants and aquatic animals in a closed loop recycling system.
