Frances the Fish Presentation

  • Location: NextSpace LA
  • Date: Dec 4, 2015
  • francesthefish.org

Frances the Fish is the fifteen minute animated short film about a brave little salmon that makes her way from her home river to the ocean in search of a bigger life. Frances and her fellow fish encounter an omniscient octopus, a commercial fishing outfit, climate change and hungry bears, as some of the challenges in the face of the monumental task to spawn the next generation. While Frances the Fish depicts the cycle of life through the journey of a sockeye salmon it is at its heart an allegory for perseverance, community interdependence, and faith.

As this film is still in development we will share a few words about the project and a bit of the artwork from the film followed by a Salmon specialist who will speak briefly about the effects of climate change on salmon. We are ultimately planning to make the short in Virtual Reality Animation, so we will also have an interactive demo that audience members can experience individually with a VR headset. This is a free event where sparkling wines and hors-d’oeuvres will be served.
